About Us
As one of the most popular and competitive club sports teams at UVM, we attend on average 3-6 regattas per weekend during the fall and spring seasons. While most of these regattas specialize in fleet and team racing in double-handed dinghies, we also attend single-handed and keelboat racing competitions. We compete in the highly competitive New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA).
Event rosters are selected on a competitive basis, but our team has a very full schedule each season, which allows a wide range of team members to have a chance to participate in regattas. The sailing team is funded as a club sport through the UVM Student Government Association (SGA). We also hold periodic fundraisers to supplement the budget we receive including an annual fall banquet. |
Where We Sail
Our team practices out of the Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center which is a short distance down the hill from the UVM campus (about 5 minutes driving). The team typically carpools or bikes to and from practice each week.

Who Are We?
Our current team members come from a wide range of geographic locations. To the right is a map of the home states of the current team members, which is very similar to the makeup of UVM's student body.
UVM sailors come from many different sailing backgrounds but most members have a dinghy racing (420 or FJ) or competitive keelboat racing background. Many Catamount sailors coach summer youth sailing programs in the off season as well. |
